SCIENCE FICTION, FANTASY, AND HORROR ISSUE GUIDELINES
FLASH ME MAGAZINE will be doing a special SCIENCE FICTION, FANTASY, AND HORROR ISSUE October 31, 2010. Special guidelines apply and any submissions received that do not follow these specific guidelines may be rejected outright.
All stories submitted for the S/F/H issue must contain some element of science fiction, fantasy, horror, or any combination of those genres and be 1,000 words or less. Stories with excessive gore, violence, profanity, or sex are not appropriate for Flash Me Magazine. As a magazine geared towards readers of all ages and beliefs, we reserve the right to decline stories based on their content. We do not publish poetry.
*The S/F/H Issue Submission Period begins April 30, 2010 at 12:01AM EST and ends August 31, 2010 at 11:59PM EST.* Submissions received outside of this period will be deleted unread. The S/F/H issue will be published October 31, 2010.
No simultaneous submissions, please.

S/F/H ISSUE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Last Updated 5-2-2010 |
All submissions must
be 1,000 words or less. There is no minimum word count, but our
upper limit is set in stone.
All submissions should be sent either in the body of
your email or as a .doc/.rtf document to this email address: sfh(at)wingedhalo(dot)com. Do NOT send .docx documents - we cannot open them. Submissions sent to our regular submissions email address will not be considered for the special S/F/H issue. If you are pasting your
submission into the body of your email, please use plain text without
any special formatting. A garbled submission is a pain to read and is
easy to avoid.
Include your legal name, your name as you want it published, your email address and a short biography
to be published with your story. You may also include a link to
your personal website. Submissions without this information may be
rejected upon receipt, even if we've published your work before.
Please have the words "SFH SUBMISSION" in your subject, as well as your story's title. Emails
received without the proper subject will be deleted as junk mail.
Please tell us if your submission is a reprint. We do
consider reprints for publication, as long as the author discloses
where the story was previously published and assures us that they
retain all rights to the story. If you do not tell us your submission
is a reprint and we see it published elsewhere (regardless of how long
ago it was) your story will be rejected.
REGARDING SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS: We WILL NOT
accept simultaneous submissions. We don't want to reserve a slot for
your story, only to have you pull it for publication elsewhere. Some stories may be held for voting, which will not be held
until September 15, 2010, so you may not hear back on whether or not we've
accepted your story until the end of September. Please do not submit your story elsewhere until we notify you we are declining your story.
NEW! We now limit each author to two submissions in our slush pile at any given time. Please wait until you have heard back on your first two submissions before sending any others. Please send each submission in a separate email with all of the above requested information in each email. We will reject any emails that have more than one submission in it, and we will reject any submissions that exceed our two-submission limit.
If one of your two stories are accepted for publication or held for voting, that means you may only have one story in our slush pile at a time for the remainder of that quarter. If we accept or hold two of your stories, you may not submit further stories for that quarter. We thank you for your understanding.

PLEASE NOTE: We
send an email acknowledging receipt of every submission. If you do not
receive an email within fourteen days, assume we have not received your
submission and resend it. We will send acceptance and denial letters as soon as we've made a decision on your story. Some stories may be held for voting, though, which will not be held until September 15, 2010. You may not hear back on whether or not we've accepted your story until the end of September. We will notify all authors no later than October 1st, 2010. If you do not hear from us by then, please query.

| PAYMENT |
We are a paying market. All published stories will receive twenty-five dollars ($25) US via PayPal, plus a year's subscription to Flash Me Magazine. Our Feature Story winner will receive an additional twenty-five dollars ($25), for a total of fifty dollars ($50) US via PayPal. That means Feature Stories are guaranteed professional rates of at least five cents ($0.05) per word. We will choose our Feature Story only after all accepted stories are formatted for publication. Please see our Editorial Process
for more details. PayPal payments will be sent out on or before publication. Subscriptions are usually sent out one day prior to the next scheduled issue (Jan 30, April 29, July 30, Oct 30). Alternative means of payment can be negotiated.
***
RIGHTS: We are buying Exclusive Electronic Rights for a period of three months.
We require permission to use accepted stories in our free online
issue, our PDF subscription, and any future CD versions produced. We require permission to archive the story online for one year. We will continue to archive the story unless the author requests we remove it. If we decide to publish
an anthology or print versions at any time in the future, we will contact the authors for
permission to reprint their stories.
