JOIN OUR STAFF

We have several open positions! We are currently looking for an administrative manager, admin assistants, a development staff, and contest administrators to join our team. We're looking for people who enjoy reading a wide variety of fiction and who have the time to devote to the magazine. All of our staff works on a volunteer basis and enthusiasm is more important than any experience. Also, we hire from within first, so there’s always the possibility of moving into another position. You may apply for more then one position, if you feel you'll have the time to devote to more than one.

We do require some commitment on the part of our staff or there would be no magazine, and staff members cannot submit stories for publication at Flash Me Magazine or participate in any of our contests. We do have many perks, however, and the entire staff is included in the decisions affecting the magazine. All staff members may sign up to be contest judges, may participate in end-of-quarter voting, and are encouraged to join us when we appear at the World Fantasy Convention in 2008.

Please read the individual position descriptions below. If any of these positions sounds like something you would enjoy, we'd love to consider you as an addition to our staff. To do that, please send a brief description of any skills or qualifications you might have, along with your name and a short bio to our email address.

We'll review your application as quickly as possible. If we think you'd make a good fit, we'll offer you a trial position and see how it goes. We also want to make sure you'll enjoy the job, and have the time to devote to it.

Thank you,
Jennifer Dawson
Editor-in-Chief, Flash Me Magazine

ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER

We need someone to manage our administrative assistants. Duties include keeping a spreadsheet of all incoming submissions, making sure all submissions are properly processed by the administrative assistants, covering for aministrative assistants when needed, and maintaining open communication with the Editor-in-Chief and all the administrative assistants.

Other administrative duties may include monitoring several email accounts, formatting our newsletter, and/or assisting the Editor-in-Chief with other behind-the scenes projects.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS

We need someone to handle all of our rejection letters. The job requires cutting and pasting our editorial feedback for authors from our staff board into a word document. The final rejection letter will then be emailed out to the authors.

Other administrative duties may include monitoring several email accounts, formatting our newsletter, and/or assisting the Editor-in-Chief with other behind-the scenes projects.

DEVELOPMENT STAFF

We are creating a brand new development staff to help with promotional items, market updates, advertising, and other miscellaneous projects. Knowing how to navigate the Internet is the only requirement, but knowledge of market listings is a plus.

Development staff would have less supervision and more control over what projects they handle. Time isn't as much of an issue, but people applying for these positions need to communicate their progress and keep the rest of the staff informed.

CONTEST ADMINISTRATORS

Contest administrator duties may include managing the contest email account, logging received entries, sending receipt/acceptance/denial emails, posting contest entries on our secure, online editorial board, and/or logging in to our online editorial board on a weekly basis to review the entries we've received at the time.
