WHAT'S NEW AT FLASH ME MAGAZINE?
Flash Me Magazine is planning an all fantasy issue October 2008. We will not be accepting regular submissions for the October Issue. Our special Fantasy Issue submission deadline is July 31, 2008. Click here for special fantasy issue guidelines. PLESAE NOTE: We will not be accepting regular submissions again until October 1, 2008. Any submissions received before then will be held and we will consider it after October 1st, when we will be reviewing stories for the January 2009 issue.
We will be attending the 2008 World Fantasy Convention. This year’s WFC will be held in Calgary and Flash Me Magazine will be there. We will have a dealer table manned by FMM staff where we will sell CDs containing all four 2008 PDF issues. You’ll be able to meet the Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor, as well as register for drawings. If you plan to attend the WFC, make plans to stop by and see us! We are holding a fund drive: Flash Me Magazine is holding a fund drive to raise money for the magazine. Our entire staff volunteers their time and energy, but our contributors and artists do get paid. Our budget is comprised entirely of donations and funds raised through subscription sales. As we wrap up our fifth year of publication, we need donations more than ever. If you've enjoyed reading FMM over the years, please help keep us running. Every donation over $8 comes with a year's subscription to Flash Me Magazine. Every donation over $100 comes with a FMM goodie bag valued over $50! And at the end of our fund drive we'll be raffling off some amazing prizes. For more information, check out our Fundraisers Page. We hope to raise $3000 between April 30th and October 31st.
We have brought back our Lightning Flash Fiction Contest! This is year-round contest for stories under 250 words. The contest is free to enter and this time around we will be accepting reprints! Stories will be published in our PDF subscription, where readers will vote for their favorite entry. The quarterly winner will be awarded $10 US via PayPal and will be republished in the following issue. The editorial staff will also pick their favorite entries to be published online! Authors wishing to enter stories in the LFFC must follow our LFFC guidelines.
We are putting together our first anthology in 2008. It will be filled with stories we’ve published in our first five years of publication, including Feature Story winners, quarterly poll winners, and staff favorites from July 31, 2003 to April 30, 2008. We will contact authors via email next July. Authors who agree to reprint their stories in the anthology will receive free copies. We expect to offer the anthology in trade paperback and PDF formats and all proceeds will help support the magazine.
If you have been a past contributor to FMM and your email address has changed, please email us as soon as possible so we can update our records. We cannot offer you a slot in our anthology if we can't contact you!
