All submissions must be 1,000 words or less. There is no minimum word count, but our upper limit is set in stone.

All submissions should be sent either in the body of your email or as a .doc/.rtf document to this email address: submissions@wingedhalo(dot)com If you are pasting your submission into the body of your email, please use plain text without any special formatting. A garbled submission is a pain to read and is easy to avoid.

Include your legal name, your name as you want it published, your email address and a short biography to be published with your story. Submissions without this information will be rejected upon receipt, even if we've published your work before. You may also include a link to your personal website.

Please have the word SUBMISSION in your subject, as well as your story's title. Emails received without the proper subject will be deleted as junk mail. We notify each author when we receive their submission. If you do not receive an email within a few days, assume we have not received your submission and resend it.

Please send only one submission per email. We do not limit the amount of submissions per author, per quarter, but we do need each and every submission sent in a separate email with all of the above requested information in each email. We will reject any emails that have more than one submission in it.

Please tell us if your submission is a reprint. We do consider reprints for publication, as long as the author discloses where the story was previously published and assures us that they retain all rights to the story. If you do not tell us your submission is a reprint and we see it published elsewhere (regardless of how long ago it was) your story will be rejected.

We will send acceptance and denial letters at least two weeks prior to publication (Jan 17, April 17, July 17, Oct 17). If you do not receive an email by then, please email us with a query.

We do not encourage simultaneous submissions. We don't want to reserve a slot for your story, only to have you pull it for publication elsewhere.

Stories receiving five YES votes will be accepted immediately and will receive their choice of $10 US via PayPal, a year's subscription to Flash Me Magazine along with $5 US via PayPal OR a special 2008 compilation CD*. Unless it is chosen for our Feature Story:

ONE story that is accepted outright (not held for voting) will be chosen as our Feature Story. Feature story winners receive $20 US via PayPal, a year's subscription to Flash Me Magazine, PLUS a special 2008 compilation CD* (in lieu of above choices).

All submissions held for voting and voted into the issue receive $5 US via PayPal or a year's subscription to Flash Me Magazine.

* The special 2008 Compilation CDs will be available for pick-up at the World Fantasy Convention in October of 2008. Authors who cannot attend either convention can choose to have their CD mailed to them in November 2008.

Payment, in whichever form the author chooses, will be sent out on or before publication, except for the special 2008 compilation CDs, which will not be produced until October of 2008. Alternative means of payment can be negotiated. Subscriptions are sent out one day prior to the next scheduled issue (Jan 30, April 29, July 30, Oct 30)

RIGHTS: We are buying Exclusive Electronic Rights for a period of three months. We require permission to use accepted stories in our free online issue, our PDF subscription, and any future CD versions produced. We require permission to archive the story online for one year. We will continue to archive the story unless the author requests we remove it. If we decide to publish an anthology or print versions at any time in the future, we will contact the authors for permission to reprint their stories.

PLEASE NOTE: All four 2008 issues will be compiled into a special CD which will be on sale at the World Fantasy Convention in October of 2008. The CD will be available for purchase online in November 2008.
