Alex needed new pants, but this meant shopping. For Alex, entering a clothing store was like being dropped behind enemy lines. He kissed his wife good-bye. She wished him luck.
Armed with a credit card, he entered the store and made his way to a rack of pants with a sign that read 33% off. He found a pair of black slacks in his size priced $34. But with 33% off, that's…
No time to think, soldier!
Alex grabbed the pants and scouted for jeans. Although this should be a simple mission, he nearly panicked when he saw the variety of designer names.
Worse, some jeans were pre-faded and others stone-washed, whatever that meant.
There were even pleated jeans. Pleated jeans, for crying out loud! He found familiar dark blue Levi's in his size.
Sweat dripped from his forehead.
Wanting to make his escape, he searched for a cashier. Then he remembered, leaving too soon could be costly. He needed to try on the pants.
"I'm going back in," he said aloud, frightening a young woman standing near him.
The jeans fit fine but the slacks were tight. But they're both 34/30, he thought. It's a trick. They want me to go back. Alex took the jeans to a register.
"How did it go?" his wife asked when he returned home.
"I had to leave one behind." He hugged her. "It's good to be back."
