LIGHTNING FLASH FICTION CONTEST
Just like the regular magazine, The Lightning Flash Fiction Contest accepts all genres of fiction. There are no restrictions on content, though we will not publish stories with excess gore, violence, profanity, or sex. Contest entries will be accepted year-round.
So what's the difference?
All contest submissions must be under 250 words. Our editorial board will select the top contest entries, which will be published in our PDF Issue and online. Readers will then vote on their favorite contest entry. The winner will be announced and republished in the following issue. They will also be awarded $10 US via PayPal and receive a year's subscription to Flash Me Magazine.
The contest begins April 1, 2008 and the deadline for our next issue is June 30, 2008.* Entries
received after this quarter's deadline will be held for consideration
in the following issue.
Issues are published on Jan 31, April 30, July 31, and Oct 31, with
submission deadlines one month prior to publication.

CONTEST
GUIDELINES
|
All entries must
be 250 words or less. There is no minimum word count, but our
upper limit is set in stone.
All entries should be sent in the body of your email to: this email address: contest@wingedhalo(dot)com. Please use plain text without
any special formatting. A garbled story is a pain to read and is
easy to avoid.
Include your legal name, your name as you want it published and your email address. Entries without this information may be
rejected upon receipt, even if we've published your work before.
Please have the word CONTEST in your subject, as well as your story's title. Emails
received without the proper subject will be deleted as junk mail. We notify each author when we receive their entry. If you do not
receive an email within 7 days, assume we have not received your
entry and resend it.
You may submit as many entries as you like. Please limit the number to three per email, though.
We will let you know as soon as possible if any of your entries make it in. Only the best contest entries (as judged by our editorial board) will be accepted. Those stories will be published in the PDF version and online, where readers can view all the final entries and cast their own votes.
Due to the number of entries, we can not give specific feedback as to why a contest entry does not make it into the issue.
The winner will be notified via email after the voting period ends. The winning contest entry will be announced in the following issue and republished with the author's bio. They will be awarded $10 US via PayPal and receive a year's subscription to Flash Me Magazine.
